Big brother is watching you

I'm going to tell you about a great book. It's "1984", a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949.
This is a complex story about a totalitarian society, monitored for the Big Brother. It tells how Winston Smith, the protagonist, secretly hates The Party "Insog" that have got total control of his life -and everyone's life- and dreams of rebellion against Big Brother. He works for the Ministry of Truth, when he's responsable of the historical revisionism; there is where he meets Julia, who will have secretly romance with him, hidden from The Party.

I always remember the three sentences that The party uses as slogan:
  • War is peace
  • Freedom is slavery
  • Ignorance is strength

Finally,"1984", "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury and "Brave new world" by Aldous Huxley are the most important dystopian novel of the history.

I like "1984" 'cause I think that many of the ideas of this book reflect what happens in our society, and -like the book- we can't escape from this.

Here is a review of the book on Amazon:

-This is a review from: NineteenEighty-Four (Paperback)
In accordance with the dystopian theme of this book, it should be required reading. 1984 is my all time favorite book. The characters are powerful and the plot is disturbingly reflective of some of the challenges we face today. The entire text is littered with powerful messages such as; "war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength". Orwell creates a world in 1984 that speaks to us all on a visceral level. Peering into a possible future reminding us that the road to dystopia is long and paved with good intentions. Orwell is a literary genius. If I could convince someone to read only one book it would be this one. The themes expressed compel you to reflect on our own world and contemplate our own future. Please read this book you will not be disappointed! If you read it and want more I'd suggest Brave New World by A. Huxley as well. My 2nd all time favorite.
